Purple's Pet Birkie

Yes, yes, I'm still screwing around with fonts and stuff, because it's fun, and I'm trying to figure out how to work this... ^^; Don't kill me. Anyways, I'm working on a random little story involving my Birk character Reem. Dunno what a Birk is? It's basically an avian Irken, and Reem is exactly that. =3

Again, this is just a simple thing I'm working on. I have a different (more serious/mature because in my world where I write most of my fanfiction with my cousin, Purple is part Birk as well) version of this, but since this is more focused around the show-based universe, I'm trying to keep things a little more in character. XD Old habits die hard for me...

Anywhoo, enjoy! ^^; I'm posting only bits and pieces of what I have so far.

Something was going on in the village below. The people were being taken from their homes by featherless, wingless versions of them, going about and calling themselves Irkens. Some of the villagers broke free from their captor's bonds and had tried to fly for freedom, but those who flew up were shot down, never to rise again. Everyone was so focused on what was going on on the ground that nobody saw the wide pair of orange eyes, peeking through the shadows of the trees.

Several feet above the ground, a young Birk perched on the branch, watching his neighboring village be destroyed. Every gunshot made him start, feathers ruffling, antenna quivering. He twitched his arms, fidgeting with the attatched wings. He felt sorry for the villagers below, having fled his own village just weeks before when the Irkens took his home. He was the only one to have escaped, he was lucky, oh so very lucky.

However, as he watched safe haven after safe haven be destroyed by the Irkens, he knew his luck was running out. The Birk flinched as an explosion rocked the forest. His name meant two things on his planet, luck AND strength. At that moment, he wished he had both. He closed his eyes, thinking Reema Ba'ura. Strength to Ba'ura.

He was so caught up with the action in the village he didn't see the two guards appear behind him. All he felt was a net ensnare him and he panicked. Screeching, he flailed in the net, falling several feet to the ground below. He blacked out, bones snapping on impact.

The two guards above studied the young Birk. "Should we send this thing with the others to the prison planet?" the first asked. The second shook his head, obviously studying the creature deeper than his partner. "How bout Auctionaria, that slave planet?" Again, a shake of the head. "Are you thinking Brothelia?" Another negative. The first guard gave up and they went down to pick up the fallen Birk.

Finally, the second spoke. "Do you remember how when we were standing and getting our assignments, Tallest Purple was begging for a pet from Tallest Red." The first snickered, remembering how annoyed and tired Red looked when they were going down the row of guards and soldiers to be assigned. "Well, he looks to be about right for the job."

The first blinked. "Um, how? There've been several Birks, some better than this one, so why him?"

The second smiled as they threw the young Birk into the storage area of the ship. "He's been the first to escape our clutches before. He's earned an escape from the other planets, but his fate lies with our Tallest, as he has committed a crime by resisting authority."

The first smiled. "Alright. I don't know if it makes sense, but I can go with that."

Eh, that's all I got so far. Expect more, please review! I suck at stories!

Thank yew to Kalliah and Irken Angel for commenting. X3 Glad you guys like so far. Now I'm gonna try for the second part... hopefully this is gonna get somewhere for me.

The jostling of the ship brought pain to Reem's broken bones, which brought with it consiousness. Letting out a weak chirp, he opened one eye and slowly scanned his surroundings. He wasn't lying on the rocky forest ground, he was on a smooth, cold metal floor. There were no trees, only tubes and cages, filled with other aliens. In front of him, as his eye refocused, he saw bars aligned vertically right in front of him. Both eyes were open now and he immediately sat up. Big mistake.

The searing pain from his busted ribs brought him forward, his breath hissing between clenched teeth. He had only heard how it felt when someone broke their bone, and usually it was only one. Reem knew if this was how it felt, then he had obviously busted several bones, and he knew it hurt to breathe too deeply, so he lightened his breathing to almost a pant as he started testing his limbs.

His right arm felt fine, his right wrist sent sparks of pain through his forearm. Busted wrist on right then. He tested his left and stopped almost immediately as pain sparked from his shoulder. His left arm was useless, and he could consider his right arm useless as well if he couldn't flex his wrist. Next were his legs, and both were wrought with pain. Reem let out a keening cry. He was completely disabled!

A guard blinked and quivered his antenna, which throbbed slightly from Reem's high-pitched scream. He narrowed magenta eyes and glared at the Birk. "Shuddup in there!" With that he threw his soda can against the bars of the cage. Reem flinched as the bars vibrated, long feathery antenna lowering.

The trip seemed to last forever and ever, but it was only six hours before Reem heard people up front talk about approaching this "massive." If Reem knew his vocabulary right, massive meant big, and they referred to this thing as THE massive. Reem blinked and pressed his head to the bars, where he could see the ****pit in front of him and the window showing the outside.

His orange eyes widened as he saw a giant pink... thing, looming in space. He saw the same black insignia on the front of it that all the Irkens had on their own miniature things, which were still big to Reem. 'Well,' he thought. 'this thing really is massive, it puts those other flying objects to shame...' Still, this "Massive" creeped him out and he tried to move himself to the back of the cage in the least painful way possible.

Alright, I can't spew out anymore at the moment... I hurt. X_X
